  34. REQUIREMENTS - VGA based ATI products:
  35.  
  36. Various modes  require  different  hardware  and memory. If the driver's
  37. hardware and memory  requirements  are  not met at load time, the driver
  38. will exit to DOS  and  report  an  error.  This error will also occur if
  39. the card's monitor configuration  is  incorrect (i.e. card is configured
  40. for a PS2 monitor and the selected resolution is higher than 640x480).

  42. Please note that mode  65H  (1024x768/16  paged  type) is not supported.
  43. Instead, mode 55H (1024x768/16 planar type) is supported.  V3 VGA Wonder
  44. do not support mode 55H. A V3 VGA Wonder card is identified by having V3
  45. as the first two characters in the ROM version label. If this resolution
  46. is required and you own a  V3  VGA  Wonder,  ATI  has a hardware upgrade
  47. program in place. Please contact ATI Customer Support for details.

  50. REQUIREMENTS - Accelerator based products:
  51.  
  52. These  drivers  will  work  with  either  512K  or 1Mbyte of accelerator
  53. memory.  With 512K,  16 colors will be displayed.  On 1Mbyte boards, 256
  54. colors are displayed.
  55.  
  56. For 800x600 operation, the  Graphics  ULTRA/VANTAGE  ROM version must be
  57. 1130111513 (v1.3) or newer.  For  8514  ULTRA  ROMs, the version must be
  58. 1330111330 (v1.3) or newer. Please contact ATI Customer  Support for ROM
  59. upgrade details. The ROM  version  label  is  displayed  in  the startup
  60. banner on system startup.

  62. These  drivers    will  work  with  either  512K    or 1Mbyte of accelerator
  63. memory.  With 512K,  16 colors will be displayed.  On 1Mbyte boards, 256
  64. colors are displayed.

  68. INSTALLATION
  69.  
  70. To Install ATI's Windows 3.1 Drivers:
  71.  
  72. 1)  Exit Windows.
  73.  
  74. 2)  Change directory (CD) to your Windows directory.
  75.  
  76. 3)  Place the ATI Windows 3.1 Display Driver Disk into drive A.
  77.  
  78. 4)  Type "setup" at the DOS prompt.
  79.  
  80. 5)  Select Display - "Other (Requires disk provided by a hardware manufact.."
  81.  
  82. 6)  Select the desired screen resolution and press Enter. Setup will copy
  83.     files from the diskette into your  Windows directories. Setup may ask
  84.     for some Windows diskettes.  Enter  "A:" (or "B:") so setup continues
  85.     to use the ATI driver disk.

  87. 7)  When Setup is complete, type "win" at the MS-DOS prompt to start
  88.     Windows.

  92. Notes - General:
  93. ===============
  94.  
  95. The ATI driver disk is designed  to  copy  all  available drivers to your
  96. Windows SYSTEM  directory  depending  on  which  type  of ATI product you
  97. own. For example,  if  you  select  any  ATI  ULTRA driver, all ATI ULTRA
  98. drivers will be copied.  This   method  eliminates  the need for Setup to
  99. reuse the ATI driver disk repeatedly for post alternate driver selections
  100. since the required drivers will already be present on your hard drive.

  103. Notes - VGA based drivers:

  106. The following drivers contain support for V3 VGA Wonder cards:
  107. . 640x480/256 Small & Large font (512K)
  108. . 800x600/16  Small Font (256K)
  109. . 800x600/256 Small & Large font (512K)
  110.  
  111. For windowed DOS sessions, it is recommended that you select
  112. "High Graphics" for DOS prompt or DOS application PIF files.

  115. Notes - Accelerator based drivers:

  118. The  following  features  are  missing  from the current ATI Accelerator
  119. drivers disk. These drivers will be provided in a later release.
